I see her laughing and playing,
not a care in the world.
Her hair of white, eyes of blue,
knows not of what will be the truth.
Innocence abounds as she runs today,
sunlight and smiles guide her way.
She loves the shores and mountains too,
free from worries and life untrue.
I turn and see her once again,
now a teenager searching for more.
Her spirit light and free from pain,
she finds a love along the shore.
In the link of an eye, I see again,
that innocence lost in the wind.
No more does she run and play,
only tears and worry fill her day.
Little girl, so free and light,
now lost forever in her life.
With children of her own,
she struggles to find,
the little girl lost,
but not from her mind.
