Poem

Invader

Creeping in ever so slowly, it comes.
Sometimes without warning, it comes.
Consuming the host bit by bit.
Starting in the corner of the mouth,
then spreading quickly to checks and eyes.
This invader moves straight to ones heart,
we must give in and let it take flight.

It spreads without warning from one to the next,
there is no cure for this all consuming invader,
It lives and breathes with a life all its own.
This invader so contagious, it cannot be stopped,
though many have tried, still it comes.

It engulfs even the strongest of men,
feeding upon the soul of the host, it comes.
Arriving in morning and noon and night,
it comes to invade and gain its life.

What is this invader? You say.
Where does it come from,
and where does it lay?
It is but a simple smile you see,
so share it with someone you love today.
