Poem

I Remember

I remember sitting alone in my room for countless, sleepless hours
I remember a horrible pang of loneliness rush through me as I was swallowed
     in the darkness
I remember being comforted by the soft sounds of a summer storm brewing
     outside my window
I remember hearing soft drops of rain dancing on the roof overhead, like
     the footsteps of an angel
I remember being startled by bright flashes of lightening illuminating my
     room
I remember hearing the low whistling of the summer breeze passing through
     my open window
I remember feeling strangely peaceful as piercing claps of anger thunder
     roared
I remember the hot tears gliding down my face as I stared into the empty
     night, thinking only of you
And I remember slowly drifting off into a deep sleep, dreaming only of you
