Curls of Chocolate and mistletoe kisses
Mixed box of batteries and Lionel 's to fix it
The tracks that won't stay put...the coal car falls over
Its the night before Christmas...kids under covers
Santa's new helpers and some are experienced
Taking the time...asking deliverance
Directions all wadded and curses in tow
Breaking a nail...minds fit to blow
Lights from the tree blinking like lashes
While Pop's in a frenzy and Momma's not rational
What in the blazes is going on here
With whispers in voices...some muffled fears
It's Christmas Eve and time to get ready
Time for theFat Man with reindeer all steady
Elves and the parents make sure the delight
For wee ones in PJ's...for red and green lights
For peppermint kisses and wrapping paper
Bows made of foil and all the waxed tapers
For worn out old fingers and misdirections
Nothing's ideal with mixed up perceptions
Afterall folks it Christmas soon
We haven't the time to fret over swoons
The baby's will all love what they get
Then parents will snooze and may brake a sweat
Christmas is work and way too commercial
For me and for you, Greg, Todd and Hershel
We'll make all our presents next year...I vow
Then that's more trouble, I think, somehow
Let's give Christmas the meaning that it deserves
Lets give love with peace...NO RESERVE
Lets keep it simple and give from our hearts
Keep God in the picture, don't worry about parts
Let's give away to those that have little
Then never worry about all of this piddle
Let's pray for the world and keep our heads low
Put peace in a box with a shiney new bow
This world's had enough and we've spoiled our kids
But what of the ones who've hit the skids
The children of war with darkened sad sockets
Let's give then some shine for their torn, old, shirt pockets
Let's give them a bed with all clean sheets
The sound of silence and a peaceful sleep
Let's fill their stomach and not throw away
The bounty of love that is Christmas Day
We have it all here and we need to share it
Its what we do best...Its OUR Christmas SPIRIT!
