Poem

Kill The Clock

I'm rushing to find
Just a little time
A moment or two,
I can finally claim
As truly mine.
The clock ticks faster and faster yet
I hurry and rush to get caught up
This paper goes here
I need to go there
I have to finish this
I have to call about that
Oh the list
It goes on and on
Is there no end
I hurry to and fro
To finish the smallest
Or to start the largest of my task
Rushing to find a minute
A teeny tinny moment
This the most microscopic second
That I may claim truly free
I am so tried of passing
Me upon the streets
Surely there's another way you can go
They tell me what's others achieve
Bewildered I wonder are they human like me
Indeed do they see them
Racing down the streets
Past where they just had been
Do they have more time
Perhaps a special deal with the clock
Maybe that's it
Insane maybe but it seems the only way
That's it the clock is my enemy
Kill the clock
I try to stop its hands
Yet I see them creeping up
Then I have it
I run for the breaker box
I flip the main breaker
I dance through the house
My triumph is complete
I peer craftily from my window
I alone hold the secret
I am beyond time
I've defeated the clock
Now what should I do,
I wonder what time it is.
