Poem

Missing Birthday

You missed my birthday dearest one,
Not a note or single word,
I dropped a hint, I dropped a line,
Nothing read and nothing heard.

Perhaps your work of counting stars
And waxing angel wings
Preoccupied your time today
And you forgot my birthday sing!

Maybe moonbeams filled your thoughts
And I was second best,
Perhaps you bowed and prayed all day
While I remain in lowly flesh.
