Poem

12/21/01

you came to me in the uncomfort of day
and together we found night
we found the passionate mystery of shadow
and the subtle comfort of candlelight
along with sleep we found peace in each other’s arms
in those dark hours after the sun’s light has succumbed to the ground
like night, in you I enjoy the unknown,
the adventure of dreams,
and a serene peace not to be found with the sun
and like night you reveal to me all that the sun conceals
the beauty of woman found in the celestial moon and stars
a beauty which only in night is revealed
and in you I must’ve found heaven itself
for on your freckled skin lye constellations
in your depths I’ve lost myself
like some probe sent to find alien creation
but in your totality you’re greater than heaven itself
for you are Woman
you are Earth
in you lies all that is needed to sustain me
you are the very place where new life is given birth
