Selling the business...his blessing
Remembering years that he paid
Sweat in buckets with tension
Trying to just make the grade
Wings flying everyday then
Hearts that traded up oil
Beads of moneyed addiction
Stocks worth their weight in his toil
Real estate trust his game now
Buying him years of just time
Flying all his transgression
With vision he trades in his mind
Powerful man of my lifetime
Balancing hours and beers
Viet Nam years in his memory
Fighting...yes fighting back tears
Compassion is his in this lifetime
Kindness in abundant abode
In rides the horse with this stranger
Tying my heart up in bows
Friends...we've been together
More often than most with just cause
Waking with disarming flavors
Seeking and wanting what was
The 70's of our gender
The parting of many we loved
The end and yet the beginning
Now blended in years just because
Man of a wonderful mindset
My friend all winged out and donned
In shorts for the heat is his pain now
Poles for golfing the lawn
Leisurely time on his hands yet
Stocks and making the trades
Balancing hands on his steering
Easily making the grade
Coming to see me and me him
Blending in smiles that just might
Make a difference to strangers
Hugging with all of our might.
Rolling with time just a blur now
Waving goodbye to the days
When laughter of powerful angels
Owned up and pulled in their pay.
