Joseph E. Whimple
Poem

Serenity

Clear night
moon out full
resting on the mountain top
stars like candles flicker

Moose cow and her calf
head into the pine trees
seeking a place to bed down

I walk along a stream
stopping and listening
hearing the sounds of night

Crickets chirping
fireflies darting through the sky
now you see them
then they're gone
to reappear once more

Serenity
no sounds of man
only me and nature
I enjoy God's precious land
