Father's Stories

Young father
sits on the porch
children gathered around him
mother sits next to him

Pale daylight
an orange red glow
sunset in the mountains

Father speaks
telling stories
of his childhood

Hard times
good times
laughing and crying
loving and dying

Children laying on the porch
sleep has closed their eyes
father's stories to be remembered
to be retold to their children again
