Poem

Our Father

Who art in heaven

Where art thou

We seek you and we beseech you

We call out to you by Your many names

To some you are known as God

To others as Yahweh

And others Allah

And Christ to many others

We say we love you, oh yes we do

But do we

Do we demonstrate love in our actions

Your love

Alas we do not, for we have forsaken Your word

We are masters at deception

Interpreters extraordinaire

We speak in tongues

Sly and crafty

We maim in Your name

We kill in Your name

We control in Your name

We enslave in Your name

Oh how we love You

Yes, we say we do

We build edifices to glorify You

Hollow and echoing to the sound of false promises

We pontificate, great orators that we are

Using your words to enslave

The meek, and the mild

We have twisted and contorted Your wondrous words

Alas we commit the greatest of all sins

The sin of omission

We do not hear

We do not see

Your words

Words to be guided by

Words to live by

Words to love by

We seek you in your truest form

In the connection from the vastness of Your most magnificent realm

To our very essence

Our core, the unseen center

That part of us known as the soul

Our receptacle of Your agape love

Our very being

We seek and we seek

We look hither and yon

Lets us journey to the closets of our mind

And proclaim our love for You

Our wonderment and awe

Let us tell You of our troubles and sorrows

Let us say thank You

Lets us tell You of our joys

Let us ask for Your divine help

Lets us listen to You

Let us hear Your words

Let us feel Your Divine presence

In the closet of our mind

Let us hear the Word as it was meant to be

Let it set us free

Let that part of us that is immortal,

connect with that which is immortal

In the closet of our mind

Let us live by Your word

We seek you

OUR FATHER
