Our children are so precious and dear,
We tend to hold them very tight and near.
We know deep down in our hearts that they are
only gifts loaned to us,
Yet when the time comes to let them go, why do
we make such a fuss?
It is quite simple and clear,
We are full of many doubts and fear.
Such innocence to possess when entering the
world of so many possibilities,
We can only pray that they face numerous great
times and very little hostilities.
We sit back and remember their childhood years,
Their first steps, first words and first tears.
Then we find ourselves wondering if we taught them well,
We can only come to one conclusion: Time will tell.
They will come to us when they are in distress or in need,
For they know we are there to help them succeed.
Though they may stumble and fall,
They will brush themselves off and stand tall.
So let your hearts be full of joy and pride,
Rest your mind at ease and know that they
are now ready for the world outside.
