Poem

Picture This

Picture an island deep within your mind's eye
White sands that freshen footsteps to whispered echoed sighs
The waves that wash each morning and help the lonely bard
With fossiled shells and coral...of rakes of sunken shards
Picture yet a lean-to...palms that rustle air
Settle into breezes...sit without a care
Ponder sailing vessels...watch their canvas wave
Entertained by porpoises who play and don't behave
Take into consideration the fresh unpolluted air
Breath it into lungs...then wish for all to share
The beat of earth and islands...the song of natures best
The beauty of a tropic atoll that put us all to test
We the voyage master with needs of finer colors
Standing at life's wheel... wishing hearts much fuller
Steering to the south...led by a southern star
Searching for life's mysteries and landing where you are
This Fuschia colored paradise the chartreuse of the foliage
The brighter blues than ever seen forgetting all life's mileage
The peace that's here...the comfort...the purity of all
The whisper to each others' heart that love has come to call
Whether sands receive the footsteps, or if the soul is greeted
Fact is that nature lead me here...it means I'm not defeated
I want the peace that I have earned...I deserve the beat that's here
I want it all but know inside...I must consider there's
Maybe another here to judge...and send me on to roam
I can't imagine sailing off when all this feels like home.
