Welfare Momma in a Shoe...New Age Nursery Rhyme...

Welfare Momma in a shoe...fostered kids were some,
She'd take them in and keep em' clean all in cumbersome
Confinement...was the rule of thumb for all these happy kids...
As in and out they'd lace the boot of smile and frowns that did,
Replace the lifestyles of such kids who came in off the streets...
To give them hope, shed despair...for tongues the taste of sweets...
Were in the oven night and day for cooking was the chore...
To feed these tiny little ones...took more and more and more.
Of help from higher ups, it seems...and , for this she was blessed...
The Old Woman's love was forever poked and finally put to test,
When diplomas did beckon these kids from the streets..
And homework did pay off in bulk..
This woman of strength did shed a tear for these kids who often did sulk,
But spirit she gave them and love was her gift as years tendered hearts so frail..
And every month the government check came to her through the mail...
For she took those no one would give second glance and made them into a plus..
The shoe was their home and she was their mom in place of all of us.
So we give her the thanks that is her due and promise to smile for the day
That she takes in another no heart will want till he is on his way...
Or she if the cause befits the form of this babe from out of the woods...
For me and for you, for all of the waifs, for the old woman still in the shoe.
