Susan K. Rowse
Poem

Yesterday's Years

Tall, tanned gold one... seinna spots from a searching sun

One that poured its rays upon tender flesh while she burned

The surf and tides washed , bleached her, inside ... out

Cleansing this fool of rushed wishes ... no doubt

The night calls from Ospreys hunting for snacks

Lusting like she from love's passionate lack

Standing alone upon a beach of lost time

Frothing sea foam with a half-hearted rhyme

The call of the night's mistress laments all her pains

When shadows of midnight drape her with rain

Softly she whimpers as a lone tear appears

Soothing her heart from yesterday's years.
