Sing A New Song

Sing a new song
Today is a day to remember
Mother is singing and a new day is born
And Daddy is in the garden picking the juiciest of the corn

Sister has a new boy friend
And it is said he will be here today
Mother is cleaning house and polishing the furniture too
Daddy is outside shucking corn for an ole fashion barbecue

Family and friends will come, some from faraway places
Cousins and friends will come, some with mischief on their faces
What a day this will be, with arms outstretched by the men
Smiles from the ladies, to Sisters Beau, greetings from all of them

In comes her Beau with a nervous smile on his face
Sister is all smiles as she walks and takes her place
I want to present my friend to each and everyone of you
I know you will like him and he will like you too

Oh the fun and enjoyment we had on that day
We will remember forever as we go along our way
I can remember Mother and Sister looking so pretty
And Daddy cooking, smiling and trying to be witty

Remember kids as you read this poem
Your day will come someday
Happy times are going to happen
To you and yours in every way

There will come a time when you will have children
And you will have dreams for all of them
You will be Mothers and looking so pretty
And you will be Daddies and trying to be witty

So when the day comes when Sisters' Beau's will visit
Remember what I said in this poem of mine
Your day will come and you Mothers will look your prettiest
Your day will come and you Daddies will be your wittiest
