Dear Lord it has been along time since I have knelt to pray
I have kind of been tied up in worldly pleasures
I guess there is a lot of folks that way
But tonight when I put my little Susie to bed
I reminded her to say her prayers and I kissed her little forehead
She looked up at me with her eyes so big and blue
And she asked
Daddy didn’t Jesus die for you and Mommy To
And if he did Daddy why don’t you and Mommy ever pray like you teach me to
Don’t Jesus love grown people Daddy or just little girls and boy’s
When I grow big like Mommy will I put Jesus aside like I will put aside my toy’s
Don’t grown people go to heaven Daddy will you and Mommy be there
I hope so Daddy I remember you and Mommy each night in my prayers
Lord I tried to explain but I think I need your help
Because you see Sir
Little Susie’s Daddy has been a little out of step
Oh I aint been bad Lord at least not by the law’s of this land
But I aint lived right either Lord
I sure hope you will understand
I am kneeling here now by my little Susie’s bed
Please Sir forgive my many sins and help me to be a better dad
