(Written in memory of Gary Chadwick, killed while riding his motorcyclewhen an automobile ran into him.)
It's so hard Jesus, when our loved ones disappear,
not knowing where they are from year to year,
wondering where they're now and where they've been,
if they're doing well or some trouble may be in.
Then one day it happens, they're no longer in the past,
someone calls to tell you they've been found at last.
What terrible grief when you find out where they are,
to see them while living would be better by far.
Lord, someday we'll know why it happened this way,
broken hearts, and relationships gone astray.
This is your child, our son, our brother and more.
Father, I pray Gary heard you and opened the door.
We'll never know now what choices have been made,
only hope for a better world beyond where Gary's laid.
A land that is fairer than day, by faith that's where we'll go,
to meet our Savior, our family, and others that we know.
Father, thank you for your saving grace, a simple task,
just share your love with others was all you did ask.
Give us strength, help us vow to embrace one another,
before it's to late as it is now for Gary, our brother.
There's a land that is waiting for you, Gary and me,
where death's cold grave will never more be,
no more tears or sorrow, no searching in the past,
when Jesus comes to take His children home, at last!
