Mortal combat, hand to hand, the battle rages on.
I've got to win this desperate fight, I won't give up till dawn.
I struggle now, but weakening, I curse this wretched place,
my adversaries silent laugh, his cold breath in my face.
My anger boils deep inside, I hiss and thrash and roll,
I know I cannot let him win, this faceless, nameless foe.
His tunic white, his covered head, his body firm and wide,
no weapons does he have to use, for time is on his side.
In the night I'm frantic now, the clock ticks on and on,
I have to have my time for rest, a way before the dawn.
Worries loom and thoughts prevail, my brain is so distressed.
I've got to beat this silent foe, so I can get my rest.
It was maybe three or four, I can't be sure just when,
My faceless foe gave up the fight, there finally came an end.
I drifted deeply off to sleep, soundly as if dead.
I hate these long and sleepless nights of fighting with my bed.
