While visiting my sister in eastern Illinois
who lives in a little house outside of town,
I awoke in the early morning to the soundof many birds
and had the urge to write my feelings down.
At the attic window where I sat, my viewwas quite unique.
I could look down on the birds below at play.
As they came to the feeder, I heard their wingsin flight.
What a glorious way to start the day!
There were tiny yellow finches, a sparrow and nuthatch,
a pair of turtle doves and a chickadee.
They were taking turns along with several othertypes of birds
getting tidbits from the feeder just below me.
I listened to a mockingbird go through his repertoire.
I saw a pair of cardinals on the ground.
The background noise was constant as the sunbegan to rise
and I was thankful for this vantage point I'd found.
