My family used to live in a kampung at Pasir Panjang right next to the old Haw Par Villa. To get to the kampong itself...is a steep road which leads up to the kampong...well being the sole breadwinner of 7 children, my grandfather holds two job to keep surviving.
On one particular night, while my grandfather was walking home, he heard footsteps on the opposite of the steep road. And when he turned to look at the sound, he saw a lady. Wearing a kebaya with her sarong and a scarf which totally covered her head carrying a basket JUMPING! (mind you shes not walkin). JUMPING her way towards the road while giving an awful shrieking sound. My grandfather being the pious muslim, read some Quranic verses to remain calm and fastening his pace. And just when he was about to give a knock on the door, he saw that sarong girl again....This time she is squatting on top of the roof staring blankly at my grandfather. My grandfather shouted to my grandmother who quickly opened the door. Sensing that something was wrong, quickly told my uncles and aunties to stay put in the room. She took some coarse salt and threw it on the being while my grandfather stood there chanting it away. The "being" immediately stood up and flew away. The face facing the sky in a lying dead manner. Just like when you are lying down and lifted up the ground.
You see...theres a lot more to be told about this Pasir Panjang kampong...yet..i'll snoop around sometime to tell you more.
