I read so many ghost stories about schools in Singapore being haunted. I used to study at Ghim Moh Secondary School, where there have not been any reports of ghosts, although there was once I heard a story from my friend's brother. It was not long after my friend J and I just joined GMSS (we went to the same primary school and we were good friends). I went to his house to play, then his older brother, who already graduated from GMSS, told us some parts of the school are haunted. I was intrigued and asked him to tell us more about it, but he said, "Aiyah, don't want to scare you lah. Later you afraid to go to school!"

J and I later joined the scouts. You know the scouts sometimes have activities where we stay in school overnight. We had forgotten about what J's brother said and went to the camp. Nothing happened in the daytime except for the usual games and activities. But at night when it was almost time to sleep, J suddenly reminded me about GMSS being haunted and all that. He suggested that we secretly take a walk around the school so that he could find out if his brother was talking rubbish. I agreed to go explore the school with him. First we checked out the boys toilet on the first floor of the Science block. It was dark and very spooky. I thought I saw a shadowy figure standing outside one of the cubicles, but it could be my eyes playing tricks on me. Apparently J saw it too. The figure vanished and we were shakened, but still determined to explore the rest of the school. We went up the stairs of the Science block next.

I tell you, those stairs give me the creeps, because you never know what you'll find when you make a turn and go up a second flight of stairs. On our way up the stairs, we saw a pair of legs coming down the stairs above us from the third floor. Thinking that maybe it was a teacher, we turn and quietly headed back to the first floor. But we turned around to see who it was, and saw ONLY A PAIR OF LEGS! They seem to fade into nothing above the knees. Without making a sound, they went down the stairs and disappeared. We were trembling with fear now, and ran all the way back to the other scouts. We told them what happened. Some believed us, some thought we were fooling around, others wanted to see the legs themselves. But none of us told the teachers.
